Depending on your age you will be eligible to participate in our Miss program (ages 18-24), Teen program (ages 13-17), or Princess program (ages 6-12). We run a 5 month program, November through March with meetings every 1-2 weeks and an occasional weekend event. The meetings are to prepare you for all phases of competition and for the job of Miss Rogue Valley should you ultimately win. You need not attend every meeting, however to run in the program you do need to come to most meetings and all events. To become a contestant you simply need to fill out our official application and return it with the $25 application fee by October 25th. We will only be accepting a limited number of contestants this year, and will notify all contestants who have been accepted by November 1st. Once we have processed your paperwork and selected you as a 2011 contestant, we will send you a contestant handbook.

Our 2011 schedule is not 100% finalized, however we are looking at March 28th for our pageant date. To become a contestant you simply need to fill out our official application and return in with the $25 application fee (which covers paperwork and administrative costs). We will only be accepting a limited number of contestants this year, and will notify all contestants who have been accepted by Oct. 20th. Once we have processed your paperwork and selected you as a 2011 contestant, we will send you a contestant handbook. If you are interested, we will put you on our e-mail list so that you get an application when they become available (Applications will be available September 1st)!

Due to the overwhelming support of our community and the high caliber of young women we have been blessed to work with for the last couple of years, we have decided to consider crowning 2 titleholders in each division at our 2011 pageant! That means we would be giving out a total of 6 titles this year (2 Miss, 2 Teen, and 2 Princesses)! Contestants will be notified of our final decision at our first meeting official meeting.

Due to scheduling conflicts Miss Rogue Valley has decided to extend the auditioning process! We still have spots left in both the Teen and Miss divisions! Auditions September 23rd!

We have already started receiving e-mails and phone calls asking about auditions this year, so we decided it was time to post some details regarding auditions. Again, please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions you might have about the program or about auditions specifically.

Auditions will be held between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on September 23rd, 2009 at the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater in downtown Medford. Please be advised there is no cost to participate in this program, however if you are lucky enough to be chosen as a contestant there will be fundraising and community service requirements.

We will be accepting 10 Miss contestants (ages 18-24) and 10 Teen contestants (ages 13-17). We will also be accepting 10 Princess contestants in February (no audition required ages 6-12).

This blog is the best place to get up to date information on everything we are doing (including auditions) so keep checking back as we get closer, but for now here are a few things you might want to think about for auditions:

1. You need to bring a headshot/photo of yourself (it does not need to be professional)

2. You need to wear something professional, like what you would wear to a job interview or special school event.

3. You need to have a talent prepared. It does not need to be the talent you will compete with, but it should be as close as possible (meaning if you plan to sing you should sing for auditions, even if you are going to use a different song).

4. We will also conduct a brief interview, where will ask you questions about yourself, so you may or may not want to practice interviewing with family if that would make you more comfortable.

For those of you who are as new to blogging as we are, let us take a moment to explain how we communicate through the blog. To keep costs down/and scholarship $ up we decided to go with a simple homepage for our actual website, but to compliment the home page with an informative up to date blog with photos, information about events, and more! The one downside is that posts become "old" and end up in the archive after each month. For this reason, we have made the archive accessible to you on the bottom of the left hand side of the page. If you expand each month, you can access all old posts, including those about our titleholders as well as those which contain general info about the program. Most importantly, and as always, please feel free to contact us directly with any specific questions you might have that are not answered here, our contact information can be found at the top of the left hand side of the page. More about our programs (Miss, Teen, & Princess)

We are constantly evolving to meet the needs of the young women we work with as well as the community we serve, and so our program looks a little different each year. However, in this post we will try to explain, in more detail, a little about each of our programs (Miss, Teen, & Princess) so that you know what you might be getting in to. First we should emphasize that this program is about community service, scholarships for young women, style and poise in the 21st century, and teaching young women how to be successful in today's world. We are the local preliminary competition to Miss Oregon and Miss America (the largest scholarship provider for women in the world). From here, each division differs slightly so let me address them individually:

Miss (Ages 18-24): This program is for any young women 18-24 who are looking for a great experience and for money to pay for college. If you are chosen as one of our ten contestants, you will embark on a six month journey with us. We meet approximately 1-3 times per month for development and events, and you will learn about talent, interview, on-stage question, evening gown, and lifestyle and fitness (the five phases of competition). There is no cost to participate, however contestants will be expected to join us in our group fundraisers and community service projects. We also offer a full closet of gowns, from which you may borrow an competition gown if needed. *If you are interested please see the post regarding auditions (Sept. 23rd) and call/e-mail with any additional questions.

Teen(Ages 13-17): This program is for any young women 13-17 who are looking for a fun

experience and for money to save for college. If you are chosen as one of our ten teen contestants, you will embark on a six month journey with us. We meet approximately 1-3 times per month for development and events, and you will learn about talent, interview, on-stage question, evening gown, and active wear/not a swimsuit (the five phases of competition). There is no cost to participate, however contestants will be expected to join us in our group fundraisers and community service projects. We also offer a full closet of gowns, from which you may borrow an competition gown if needed. *If you are interested please see the post regarding auditions (Sept. 23rd) and call/e-mail with any additional questions.

Princess (Ages 6-12): This program is for young girls 6-12 who want a great time! Our princess program is a mentorship opportunity for our Miss and Teen contestants and the young girls in our community who look up to them. We start with princesses in February, meet 3 times, and then princesses show off their stuff in their very own Princess Pageant. For $100 (all profits fund scholarships for young women) each princess gets her own tiara, MRV t-shirt, 2 tickets to the MRV pageant in March, a small prize package, a professional headshot, and to participate in the princess pageant and princess tea party. The pageant itself will feature a princess production number, causal wear routine, and formal walk. One lucky girl, drawn out of a bowl at random will be crowned the new Miss Rogue Valley's Little Princess. After the pageant princesses will stay for a fun princess tea, where they will meet titleholders from around the state, sign autographs, and eat cookies! The young lady crowned will be a star on the stage during the Miss Rogue Valley Pageant and accompany us to the Miss Oregon pageant in July! This is a wonderful opportunity for young girls to meet positive role models, have a lot of fun, and get the chance to be real princesses. *If you are interested please keep checking the blog, especially as we approach February, and call/e-mail with any additional questions.
